![]() ![]() I can guess that this was maybe a restoration job, either done at Winchester, or by a gunsmith. 22 pump-action 'gallery' rifle was designed by John Browning in 1890. I posted pics of the 06 and 90 breeches so you can chech them out. The 06 I have shows noticable evidence of 'dry firing', while the 90 shows absolutely no trace of having ever been dry fired. This is evident as the shape of the loading 'slot' in the outer mad tube was sprayed with the inner tube still in place, so the shape of the slot was stenciled onto the inner tube. The rifle is in great mechanical condition, though it has been reblued with a spray on blueing. However, the serial numbers of both halves match, and the numbers look 'professionally' stamped, and show absolutely no signs of tampering. The barrel/upper receiver assembly is marked 'model 90', while the upper tang on the lower receiver assembly is marked 'model 1890. In the process I found the rifle to be really odd. Its in good condition with light wear from usage, storage, and handling. A few weeks back I posted a question asking the approximate manufacture date. You are considering a vintage Factory Original Winchester Model 1890 Firing Pin. I guess I'm trying to figure out something about this model 90. The first and third images are of the 06 bolt face, while the second and fourth are from the 90. ![]()
